Chains:
Although chains are used for many purposes, they are most commonly used for three basic purposes: transmitting power, carrying materials on conveyors, and carrying loads in lifting vehicles.
Power transmission:
Chains transmit movement synchronously. For this reason, it is an alternative to synchronous belts in applications with synchronous movement.
Timing belts are preferred for medium and small powers, and chains are preferred for large powers. Inertia, multi-part
They cannot be used at very high speeds due to their structure and inability to transmit full uniform motion. They operate with noise and vibration at high speeds . For this reason, the first movement from the engine is never taken with the chain. Chains can be used after reducing the speed with a reducer, belt-pulley or another system. Transmission chains:
The main advantage of chains in synchronous movement is that they can be used as a carrier system in conveyors. A wide variety of automation applications can be easily realized through ears attached to the chains at equal intervals. Single or mostly two chains are used to move objects (products) synchronously. Chain ears can be made in a wide variety of ways depending on the type of application. The most suitable lug type is selected from the manufacturer's expert and the manufacturer is asked to place and ship it within the given pitch ranges. In systems consisting of two chains, the chains are generally connected to each other with a thin shaft and with the help of ears. The product is pushed through this thin shaft. In conveyor applications, the chain is moved on a surface or in a channel. This channel or surface both supports and guides the chain.
The most commonly used form of transmission and conveyor chains are roller chains. Roller chains can be single or multi-row. Chain pitch spacings are generally according to the inch system. (such as 1/2” (12.7 mm)). There are chains of different sizes within the same pitch range . For this reason, the pitch and number of rows alone are not decisive, and the standard number of the selected chain should also be specified.
Forklift chains:
Specially designed chains are used for load carrying applications. These chains can carry large loads due to their structure.
